Environmental Toxicologist · Ph.D., CSIR–IITR
Reading the traces the environment leaves in us.
For over fifteen years, Dr. Madhu Anand has measured how pesticides, heavy metals, and airborne pollutants move through the human body — and what they mean for breast cancer risk, pregnancy, and the health of the next generation.
Profile
A career spent turning exposure into evidence.
Dr. Madhu Anand is Manager (R&D) at the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Science & Research Centre in Ahmedabad, where she leads scientific teams and laboratory quality under NABL and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
Her research — carried out at CSIR–IITR Lucknow, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Agra, and beyond — spans 26 peer-reviewed papers on the toxicology of organochlorine pesticides, heavy metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in exposed populations.
Areas of expertise
Four disciplines, one question:
what is the environment doing to us?
From trace-level instrumentation to laboratory accreditation — a full analytical pipeline, in one researcher.
Environmental Toxicology
How organochlorine pesticides, metals, and PAHs accumulate in blood, tissue, and placenta — and the health risks they carry for women and children.
Analytical Chemistry
Trace-level quantification by GC-MS, GC-ECD, HPLC, and atomic absorption spectroscopy — flame and graphite furnace.
Oxidative Stress
Enzyme and biomolecule assays — cholinesterases, glutathione systems, SOD, catalase, lipid peroxidation — linking exposure to biological effect.
Laboratory Quality
ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ISO 9001:2015 systems, internal audit, and NABL compliance as a CQI–IRCA certified Lead Auditor.
Selected publications
Peer-reviewed, and widely cited.
Collaborate
Open to research collaboration, peer review, and speaking.
Reviewer for Science of the Total Environment, Toxicology Letters, and Environmental Toxicology & Pharmacology.
